New air cleaner housing

27 Feb

I ordered and air cleaner housing assembly off eBay. Most of the ones in there, which were around $120 or more were very pretty and painted with no rust. A few of them even said that they had been restored from a very rusty thing to new condition. So I bought one that was around $50 and rusty figuring I’ll do some work and restore it myself and gain some experience and pride. I looked up how to do electrolysis on rusty parts using a bucket of water, battery charger and a metal plate. It takes about 4 hours per part and is line of sight (removing only one side of a parts rust at a time). So it’s going to take a few days. You then have to get a wire brush and brush off the oxidation, but way better I think than doing harder work of removing it with brute force.
